You say tomato …

The tomato plants are getting really big. Actually, I have to water them like every other day or they start to wilt. I think I have to start separating and transplanting them some more. I guess they’re big enough that they’re starting to starve one another for resources. So far, Scott & Renee, Tom & Jill, and my folks want some plants. I think that’s going to work out perfectly, actually. However, I have these little black flying insects that are swarming around the tomato plants. I’m not sure, but I think they’re fruit flies. The organic pesticide I bought isn’t killing them or dissuading them from congregating around the plants. I need to make another trip to the garden shop and see what other tools are available to me. I also need some more dirt so I can start moving them. I’m so excited.

The peppers aren’t too shabby, too. Oddly, there are no flies around the pepper plants. I’m not sure if they repel the bugs, or if the little bastards prefer tomato, though. When I start to transplant them, I think I might mix pepper plants in with the tomatoes to see if they help repel the fruit flies.
