“One thumb’s off” or “Bad to the bone”
Well, some of you may have heard, some of you may not have heard yet. So, hear it is. My parents’ birthdays just passed. So, a relatively new tradition in my family is for my sister and I to prepare a special Birthday dinner at my house. This past Sunday was the date of this year’s dinner. All was going well, too, until it was time for me slice the carrots. I was using a kitchen mandolin (look it up). mine has no finger guard, and I could not find the chain mail glove. So, you see where this is going … Yah, straight to the ER. I managed to nearly remove the top of my thumb. Luckily it hit the blade at an angle that caused the blade the stop on my bone. I’m ok, though. just in a bit of pain. I got 7 stitches in my thumb to hold the top in place, and it’s wrapped in bandages. It still bleeds a little bit, but less each time I swap out the bandages. So, that’s it. I’m in too much pain to type much more. Perhaps I’ll update some more later.
