house buying

Jamie and I made a verbal offer on a house in Freetown this week. We’re going to make the written offer / sign the P&S this week, too. Probably Fiday.

I’m pretty ecited. It’s an interesting house. It’s an octagon! It has an attached 2 car garage, but it’s on a slab, no basement, no attick. But there’s plenty of space and room for storing stuff. 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. The master suite has a show stall, and a big jacuzzi, and his and hers sinks, and his and hers closets. The property is 10.8 acres on Long Pond. But the land is not really buildable / useful. It’s mostly wetland and streams and what not, and wooded rolling hills. So, the taxes are a little steep because of the size of the lot, but because the land is so tough to use for anything, I’m going to try to get an abatement. If that fails, I’m going to deed a big chunk of the land back to the town as conservation land, anyway. That solves the tac thing, and it protects the streams / wet lands, which frankly, is needed around Long Pond, anyway.

Hopefully, we won’t run into any issues w/ the bank when applying for the mortgage, and hopefully, I won’t have any trouble renting the condo.
