Cpu scaling update

« 27 July 2009 | 22:42 | news | No Comments »

Ok, it looks like it’s only happenning when I’m running boinc / einstein@home.
I’m not entirely sure why it’s happenning, but at least I know I can “fix” it by stopping the boinc process.

Gomer phone home

Ok, that was bad.
Anyway, this post is being written from a G1 (the “google phone”). I had mentioned to Mike that I was planning on buying one, and he gave me his old one to tinker with.
This thing rocks!

Home Work

The reverend who’s going to be performing our ceremony, Reverend Fox, suggested that we read this book. I just finished Order 66, so I figured I would start reading this one. I think it’s going to be one of those lame self-help type things, but I figure it can’t hurt. Either way, we’ll see, because [...]

Shower

« 20 July 2009 | 13:12 | news | No Comments »

There was a briidal shower for Jamie yesterday at Samantha’s in Fairhaven. It went verry well. Jamie got all sorts of stuff that was on her registry. I’m amazed at just how generous people are, even in an economy like ours right now.
Also, I just got an email indicating that the bank has decided [...]

Spoke too soon

« 20 July 2009 | 13:08 | news | No Comments »

It turns out that the cpu scaling thing is still not working correctly. Weirdness. I am also having a hell of a time getting the Dell 5720 VZW card to work. It may be, though, that it’s not properly activated on their network. I’m going to have to persue that further.
On the other hand, though, [...]

laptop rebuild

« 19 July 2009 | 1:57 | news | No Comments »

Was a success, it seems. I still have a few things to “fix” and Monday will be the real test. We’ll see if I can get all my work related applications to start up ok.
But so far so good. It looks like my cpu frequency scaling issues have gone away, and it also seems [...]

Frustration.

« 17 July 2009 | 10:33 | news | 1 Comment »

My computer at home keeps crashing. I think it’s mostly because of it’s proximity to the little critters (the ferrests and the bunny). I have a bad feeling that the fans are sucking in bad things in the air.
It’s just terribly frustrating, because I use the box a LOT from work, remotely.
I don’t [...]

Septic Stuff

Well, the house failed its title 5 inspection. Not because there’s necessarily something functionaly wrong with it, but rather, the laws have changed between the time it was installed and now.
So, long storry short, the system is going to need between $10,000 and $20,000 worth of work. The P&S, of course, has a clean [...]

irregular expressions

« 14 July 2009 | 11:11 | news | No Comments »

So, I gave a “talk” at the RI Linux Users Group on regular expressions this past weekend. Wow, what a disaster that was. I realize now that it was maybe to big a topic to cover with any ammount of depth. Especially since I kind of had to start at the very beginning (e.g. we [...]
